While in college i was introduced to Tv/film. I was apart of an action short-film, and was asked to choReograph the fight scenes. Somehow, it turned into me Becoming the main chaRacter. I was then asked to be apart of other short-films and though i had a great time, I often felt like the writing didn’t feel….natural/organic to say as the CHARACTERS. As Always being the only woman of color apart of the projects (with the exception of one process) I discovered how important it is for poc to be involved in this INDUSTRY. From hair and makeup reasons, to lighting and costumes. Furthermore, for REPRESENTATION of LaNguage and style within the writing itself. Certain lines were Often odd for me to say. Because of these experiences I was inspired to write “distinct affairs,” which theN became “S.o.S.,” An action film that incorporated elements in films that i never really see being PORTRAYED by women of color.
